The Edward G. Reyes Semper Fidelis Award
The Edward G. Reyes Semper Fidelis Award was established in 2017 in honor of Post 2704 comrade Eddy Reyes who passed on 11 November 2016. Eddy was a Korean War Veteran, Past Commander, and was active with numerous Post events. Additionally, Eddy was one of the core members that helped resurrect Post 2704. The award is presented at our annual awards/holiday party in December. The award is presented to the honoree in special recognition of their service, dedication, and loyalty to the VFW. Past recipients are:

Voice of Democracy
Established in 1947, our Voice of
Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique
opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed
recorded essay. Each year, nearly 64,500 9-12 grade students from across the
country enter to win their share of more than $2 million in educational
scholarships and incentives awarded through the program. The Post winner will be nominated to District for judging.

VFW Post 2704 2022 Voice of Democracy winner – No Submission
Conducted nationwide, this VFW-sponsored youth essay competition encourages students to use their minds and knowledge of America’s history and their experience of today’s American society to write essays expressing their views on an annual patriotic theme. Each year more than 165,400 students in grades 6-8 enter the VFW’s Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest for a chance to win their share of more than $1.4 million in state and national awards.The Post winner will be nominated to District for judging.
