Memorial Park Korea-Vietnam Peace Memorial Dedication

- 7/20/2018

My name is Marquette Ryan and I work in the Parks Department for the City of Omaha. I am reaching out to you in regards to an event we are planning that we would love to extend the invite to you as well as pass it along to anyone who would like to come. We are hoping to make this event one in which will honor veterans and those currently serving our country.

This year, the City of Omaha Parks Department received a grant to restore the WWII Colonnade, put up new fencing around the circle drive at Memorial Park, and completely replicate the Korea-Vietnam Peace Memorial that sits directly in front of the WWII Colonnade.

On August, 8th at 2:30 p.m.at Memorial Park we will host the dedication and unveiling of the newly sculpted replica of the Korea-Vietnam Peace Memorial. We will have speakers including Mayor Jean Stothert, singers, refreshments and dessert. I am also looking into incorporating a few other plans into this event.

We would love to have you and any other veteran/military-basedgroups present. The City of Omaha would like to recognize the memorial as a symbol of military service and sacrifice and celebrate all renovations that have taken place at Memorial Park.

Please let me know if you plan on attending. If you wouldn't mind also spreading the word about this event, I would greatly appreciate it! We know this will be a lovely afternoon. Thank you and looking forward to your response!

Member News - VFW Post 2704 would like to congratulate Larry Gerlt. At the December Awards Banquet it was announced that Larry was selected by the Post for the 2020 Edward G. Reyes Semper Fidelis Award. Congratulations Larry.

Annual Members - If you haven't already renewed your membership, please do. Every year our Post spends hundreds of man-hours on membership renewals. It's important to our Post and the entire VFW organization. That said, time is precious, and the hours spent on membership renewal takes away from hours that could be spent on other service projects helping Veterans in the Omaha area.  Thank you.

Our Post History - I'm trying to gather information on our Post history, I've been a member for several years, I know we are the Deml-Kopietz Post but I was never told why.
